The Reiki symbols are an important part of the Reiki practice. They are a tool to connect the practitioner to the higher self. The 4 Reiki symbols were found by Dr. Mikao Usui in a Sanskrit book and he implemented them in the Reiki teachings to help make the Reiki more powerful. These ancient symbols are not necessary to access the Reiki energy but they take the healing practice to a higher level.

The first three symbols are taught during the second degree and the forth in the 3rd degree of the Pure Reiki Mastery. The 4th symbol is the Master symbol. This symbol heals the soul and works on genetic and cellular level. It is taught in the final part of the Usui Reiki Master training. Because the symbols work on a subconscious level too, once the student is initiated into the symbols they will stay with him for life even if he is using them or not. It is necessary to go through the Second Degree Attunement before using the symbols.

The Dai Ku Myo is the symbol of intuition, creativity, spiritual connection. It is the only symbol added in the traditional Usui Reiki master training. It activates the energy of Self Empowerement and it works on cellular and genetic levels. Many people have changed life careers because of the use of this symbol. It initiaties self discovery and the true life purpose. If you want to clear negative energies or for protection the Master symbol is perfect. The Dai Ku Myo symbol is a symbol that heals the soul. All bodily ailments come from an imbalance or from a blockage of the energy body (pranamayakosha).

Day Ku Myo Activation Methods

  • draw DKM with your palm centre.
  • draw DKM with your finger.
  • visualizing the DKM.
  • drawing or projecting the DKM with or from the third eye location.
  • intoning internaly or externally the symbol’s name three times.

When it comes to Reiki it matters the most the intention not the method used. Therefore you can use your imagination to activate this symbol too. As long as your intention is positive, you can use whatever method of activation you wish.

Where to apply the DKM in during healing sessions

First draw the symbol on yur hands/palms and then project it on the areas.

  • on the client’s crown chakra.
  • on areas to be healed.
  • on to the clients hands/palms.

It is important to remember that you must not become dependant on the Reiki symbols in your healings. These are mostly tools to enhance and to focus your healing energy. Not all masters make use of them to have good results. After the Reiki 1 Attunement the healing process is on, be it with the four symbols or not.
